IMPORTANT CLASSROOM INFORMATION
Classroom Procedures-
Please check your child's folder and agenda for assignments and special notes each night.
SENDING IN MONEY- Please make sure that all money is sent in an envelope with the student's name and for what the money is to be used.
BOOK ORDERS- Book orders can be viewed and placed online once the order forms come home. If you prefer to give me your order, you can send in a check or cash with the order.
FIELD TRIPS- I will need chaperones. If you would like to chaperone, please send me an email or write a note in your child's agenda when the permission slip comes home.
BIRTHDAY TREATS- We love them! Please keep them simple and easy for your child to hand out. They must be store bought. Napkins are always appreciated.
LUNCH BALANCES- Please direct all questions to the office, as I am just the messenger.
RESPONSIBILITY- Fourth grade is a big growing up year. This year, much of the responsibility shifts from the teachers and parents to the student. We can and should still give guidance, but the responsibility will always fall back on the student.

Student Expectations
AGENDA- Your child should bring his/her agenda home every night. Please look over the assignments for the day, and sign it at the bottom of the page each night.
HOMEWORK FOLDER- This will also come home each night. Please remind your child to place all homework back into their Homework Folder.
FRIDAY FOLDER- This folder will come home on Fridays. It will contain all graded work and other handouts. Please go over these papers with your child, sign and date the sheet in the folder, and place the folder in their backpack. The folders should be returned on the next school day.
HOMEWORK NOTICE- Your child will bring home a homework notice if they do not turn in their work on time. This is letting parents know that the homework was not completed. Please sign it and send it back the next day with the completed assignment.
Daily Homework:
Practice math facts for Tuesday's timed test.
Practice spelling words for Thursday's test.
Read for at least 20 minutes.
LANGUAGE ARTS
Reading: In addition to daily work and projects, 4th graders will also be required to complete AR (Accelerated Reader) points each quarter. It is simply a computerized multiple choice test on books students read. AR will count for 10% of their reading grade. (See above link "AR Book Finder" to find AR books.) You can view your child's AR progress online by clicking on the above "Kinnikinnick District Website" link, click on AR, and enter your child's login information.
English: We will use the Shurley English program for most of our English lessons.
Spelling: We will not have spelling every week. When we do have it, the spelling list will come home on Friday, and the test will be the following Thursday.
MATH
Math Facts: We will be working with long multiplication and long division problems this year. Therefore, it is EXTREMELY important for your child to memorize the basic facts. We will have timed tests on Tuesdays.
Homework: There will be frequent homework. If your child is having difficulty with something, please try to guide them to the answer by asking questions. If your child can't remember how to do the homework, and you are not sure of how to help, “Eureka Homework Help” is a link on my website that will guide you through the lesson. You can also go to youtube.com and type in grade 4, the module, and the lesson. For example: type in Eureka Math, Grade 4, Module 1, Lesson 3 for a tutorial.
